Please help me review my essay

Some people think that schools should select students according to their academic abilities, while others believe that it is better to have students with different abilities studying together. Discuss both views and state your own opinion.

These days, many people believe that it is better to stream students based on their academic abilities and distinguish the strong students from the weaker ones, whereas others argue that mixed ability classes would be beneficial. In my opinion, I am strongly convinced by the latter.

On the one hand, proponents who support the grouping students by abilities believe that this segregation will lead to the best overall progress. This is beneficial for both those who are excellent and others who struggle. To illustrate, a student who is excel at math will have more opportunities to do many challenge exercises and work quickly without feeling bored at the pace of the class, as they do not waste time waiting others to keep up with them. Meanwhile, lower-level groups can benefit from a slower pace because their classmates also work similarly slowly, thereby taking the requisite time to understand fully the concepts. If this arrangement is applied in an effective and efficient way, students in streaming classed will push themselves to new heights of achievement.

On the other hand, allowing students to learn in mixed-ability classes will provide a better environment for children’s all-round development. Not all good practices were born in one person, therefore, mixed ability classes encourage children of all abilities to cooperate and motivate the competitiveness among them. For instance, a person who are good at math but struggle with literature or language can improve their writing or language skills with the help of their classmates. Moreover, almost people want to achieve success in their academic performance. Consequently, grouping students of all abilities enables them endeavor to study better in order to bring their study to fruition as their bright friends. As a result, they may grow up to become more well-rounded individuals.

In conclusion, while separating students based on academic studies for the sake of students, I am a firm belief that mixed-abilities class are more advantageous for students’ development.
