In cities and towns all over the world, the high volume of traffic is a problem. What are the causes of this and what actions can be taken to solve this problem?

Undoubtedly, the significant number of transports on the roads is currently a major issue among many large cities around the globe. There are various reasons why this situation is happening; however, there are many effective ways to reduce the level of traffic.

Two of the most important factors contributing to the high volume of traffic are the low quality of traffic infrastructure and the skyrocketing migration of people to urban areas. Firstly, as the train and bus systems are often less frequent and in an unhygienic condition, local people would rather choose other means of transportation in order to feel comfortable. In addition, there is a demonstration that the road facilities including bridges, highways are becoming more and more deteriorated, leading to traffic jams and above all, car accidents. For example, commuters find it dangerous to travel on the streets due to holes or manholes, uneven surfaces which result in a car crash. Secondly, because of the more job opportunities in metropolises, the relocation of citizens to rural areas is low. As a result, the majority of the young generation move to industrial zones instead of settling down on the outskirt of cities.

This problem can be solved in a number of ways. In the first place, a solution is for government to improvise public transportation. Not only can authorities boost the quality of road systems, but they are able to allocate money to construct a new modern train network that encourages commuters’ usage in public transport. The officials have to make a reliable bus timetable which is one of the greatest motivators for students and workers. In addition, companies and enterprises ought to build more factories in the suburban area to distribute equally the population density.

In conclusion, an increase in the level of traffic is caused by two main factors: low-qualified public transportation, facilities, and migration of job-seekers to big towns. This issue can be resolved by tackling the distribution of population and improvement in infrastructures.
