topic: Which is better- buying mostly local food or buying mostly non-local food ?

Passage:

In today’s global economy, goods, especial is food, imported from different regions and different countries appear more and more in the market. Many people like foreign food than their locally farm produce because they think imported food is clean, therefore it is the best for their health but not knowing that the locally produced food is fresher, more nutritious and cheaper. In my opinion. I prefer buying mostly local food to non-local food because of their benefits.

Firstly, as I said, Local food is fresher and cheaper and seasonal because they don’t have to travel so far. They spend less time in shortage and transportation, so they need fewer preservatives and other chemicals. Moreover, Buying local food keeps us in touch with the seasons. Not everything is available all year round, meaning what grows is the most abundant, least expensive .Example is fruits imported and out of season, are picked unripe and artificially “ripened” with ethylene gas. They will be more unsafe than local fruits.

Secondly, Local food benefits the environment. They consume much less power for transport because the distance from farm to consumer is shorter and they use less paper and plastic for packaging. Besides, the less pesticides and fertilizers is used, the less polluted Environment will be.

Lastly, Supporting local food aids your local economy. By choosing food produced locally, you’re supporting your community, and you help keep local producers in business.

In conclusion, From these reasons, I think that it’s is a responsible to buy local food. They are not only better for your health, enjoyment, personal finance but also for environment and community.
