Please help me out to figure out the meaning of a sentence below.

"Industrialization created working patterns that were not tied to the agricultural calendar. It is possible to close a factory for a week or two weeks in a way that livestock cannot be neglected for a similar period. Many European countries introduced holidays with pay in the mid- to late nineteenth century and industrial holidays became commonplace. I don't understand the second sentence, which is " It is possible to close a factory for a week or two weeks in a way that livestock cannot be neglected for a similar period." What dose it mean? Also, what is the key sentence in this essay?
( In my opinion both first and fifth sentences are key sentences but I'm not sure)
