The charts below show reasons for travel and the main issues for the travelling public in the US in 2009.

The bar chart and pie chart depict why people in US travelled and what are their major problems which they faced in 2009.

A first glance at those charts reveals that in 2009 most US residents travelled because of working and the main issue they experienced in was the cost of travelling.

Now, turning to the details, there were nearly a half people in US in the year 2009 travelling for work. By constracts, the smallest proportion for travelling reason, which was 6%, is having a visit trip to friends or relatives. Besides, the other reasons for travelling were social reason, shopping and personal reasons.

Move to another chart, the cost of travel, which was concerned the most, accounted for 36%. At the second level, there were 19% people living in US in 2009 agreed that they did face with safety concerns. Futhermore, aggressive drivers, highway congestion, access to public transportation and space for pedestrians were those major issues that they had experience in.
