Please help me improve some parts of my thesis I posted below

All over the world, teenage pregnancy has been a constant problem. This study aims to provide valuable ideas on how to help lessen the cases of teenage pregnancy in the country. By knowing its cause, we will be able to map the right recommendation for teenage girls who are nearly to be subjected in teenage pregnancy. And by knowing its effects, we will be able to warn those teenage girls who aren’t aware of its consequences.

Population constantly increases, but the Land in which the people reside never does. Imagine all our forest being destroyed to build houses for people to live at. That’s why as soon as today, we have to build concrete solution to lessen the increase in population and that is what we want to achieve in this study. This is just another effect of teenage pregnancy, as we go on, we will cite and discuss more about its causes and effects.

As a part of this study, we will provide a lot of data that will be based on facts and it will all be used to further understand the topic. These data will be analyzed and interpreted in a manner that they will correlate and help build our recommendations for our study. By accomplishing the above statements, we can say that our study is a success.

As a person of new generation, we always hear on our grandparents about how Filipino women were in their time. Shy and sensitive, that is how they describe them. They are pertained to as the “Dalagang Filipina”, but in this new generation, do they still exist?

In the old times, men cannot just talk with a lady in the street and ask her phone number or address. If a man sees a girl he likes, he should ask the permission of the girl’s father whether he can visit them in their house. If the approval is obtained, the suitor can then go the girl’s house and introduce himself to the family of the girl. The suitor is also expected to bring a gift or “pasalubong” to the family and a special one for the girl he is courting. In the old times, the man needs to court the whole family of the girl that she likes. As he, the girl, and the girl’s family get to know each other, a new stage of courtship is being done which is the “paninilbihan” or servitude. He serves the girls family to show the girl and her family his sincere intentions and love for her. Traditionally, “paninilbihan” covers chopping firewood, fetching water from the well, etc. There is also what they call “harana” or serenade where the boy sings love songs outside the girls house by the window.

In this modern era, these practices aren’t used that much. Many of the Filipina women (if not all) are liberal-minded and they would prefer to meet up with the man courting him somewhere else than her house. We asked 10 teenage girls on how long did it take for them to accept a man’s courtship, and the average of their answers were 1 – 2 months, when in the traditional way of courtship, it takes almost a year. This is one of the main reasons of teenage and unexpected pregnancy. The lack of time to get to know more of the man and not letting the parents know about the relationship.

Last time, we went to check at Sapang Palay District Hospital on how many teenagers were subjected into teenage pregnancy for the month of June, we are shocked to know that in 30days, 26 teenagers gave birth. Almost 1 girl is giving birth every day. This is a common issue not only in the Philippines but also in other countries. According to the internet, 20% of sexual activities happen in high school. They are doing it without knowing what it will cause like “unexpected pregnancy” and then some of them will commit abortion – which is not good.

In a documentary of Kara David for GMA7 entitled “Ang mga Dalagita ng Sapang Kawayan”, motherhood at the age of fourteen is just normal, when you ask them why did they decided to do that at that young age, they will answer that it is because everybody on their town is doing it. It just proves that environment is very important in building the minds of children. And if you ask their parents about how they feel that their children are pregnant at a young age, they will say that it is okay because they did it also before.

It is quite evident that teenage pregnancy also affects the economy of a country. Firstly, many of the girls who got pregnant at a younger age stopped pursuing their studies, merely because they have to take a Job to support her and her child’s living. So instead of having a decent Job, they fall to jobs like being a housemaid or factory worker, well this are the most common jobs for people who didn’t have a college diploma. I’m not saying that those jobs are not decent, but my point is if she did pursue her studies before entering such intimate relationship that results to teenage pregnancy, she could’ve been a professional that can help increase our economy. Then after this, what do you think will happen to their child when they grew up? In most cases they will not also pursue their studies because of financial matter.
