Many museums and historical sites are mainly attracted to tourists, rather than local residents. There are some factors behind this situation and the government can consider several schemes to encourage the locals to visit these places.

There are two main reasons why local people pay fewer visits to museums and historical sites than tourists, which are the lack of attractiveness and their finance. First, it is likely that the locals have already visited these places, so they are not interested in going back. Additionally, tourists tend to learn about the history and culture of the places they visit through museums and historical sites, but local people might already have a thorough knowledge of their origin and cultural identity. Therefore, the locals hardly visit their places of interest. Second, the entrance fee of most museums and historical sites is too expensive for local people, so they are unwilling to visit these places again. In some remote and mountainous regions in Vietnam, the locals rarely visit historical sites as the entrance tickets are unaffordable.

Although it is challenging to attract more local people to visit museums and historical places, there are some solutions that the government should consider to solve this problem. Regarding exhibitions in museums, the artifacts and local handicrafts should be displayed in different themes to improve the attractiveness. Also, the government should encourage schools to organize field trips to regional museums and historical sites so that children can learn more about their culture and history. Moreover, there should be some discounts or even free entrance for the locals to mitigate the financial problems that prevent them from visiting these places.

In conclusion, why local citizens pay fewer visits to museums and historical sites than tourists can be explained by the familiar and financial problems. There are several measures can be taken to attract the locals to visit these places more frequently. (312)
