In many countries, traditional food is gradually replaced by international fast food. This is having a negative effect on both families and societies. To what extent do you agree or disagree? “

With globalization and international trade facilities, international fast food brands are present in almost all major cities around the world. Some people claim that they are replacing the intake of traditional food in many countries, I am of the opinion that fast food has several detrimental effects both on our family and society.

To start with, there is an increasing number of obese people in our community as junk food items are high in fats, salt, sugar, and calories and low in fibers and nutrients. As a consequence, that inordinate consumption of those substances might result in the imbalance of nutritional value; therefore it can link to a higher risk of heart disease and stroke, depression, obesity, or even cancer and early death. According to a survey conducted by H&L, standing for health and life, 58% of young people’s diseases is from consuming junk food instead of home-made one.

Moving further, local governments are likely to allocate more budgets to treat the ill population while people’s reliance on prepackaged food will only increase the number of ill people in a society. As a result, international fast-food chains are a great headache for any country which adversely affects the development of that country by destroying people’s health slowly. On top of that, food preparation and having meals together is a tradition that enables family members to bring the family members. However, the tendency to have a pizza in Pizza Hut or a burger in McDonald’s instead of home-cooked meals, for example, can decrease family bonding.

In conclusion, it is a very pressing issue that people are relying more on junk food than preparing traditional food at home nowadays. This has so many negative consequences on people’s lives, as it causes various diseases and has a bad effect on the relationship between family members as well.
