TOPIC- "Always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers." --Stephen Covey
Do you agree with Covey that good customer service comes from managers modeling proper behavior, or should employees be treated one way and customers another? Explain your position with reasons and examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.
Essay- In addition to Coveys quote, I have to say I disagree, employees should be treated one way and customers another. One reason workers should be treated differently is because business is business, they work there for a reason, and that is to get their job done. I believe that all employees should be treated differently based on their performance. I know a lot about this because my mom is a manager at a woman's clothing store. She is extremely serious about her job and about getting things accomplished the right way. Having respect for an employee is a must because if someone wants respect than they have to give it back. Being nice to your worker is capable, but it is always best to keep your customers happy first so they can come back. For example, my mom works as a manager at a woman's clothing store. She had an employee named Jennifer who had all kinds of problems. She's a single mom who had an abusive boyfriend, and had no car. One day, she came to work with a black eye and her arm in a sling. It was a particularly rough day because my mom was shorthanded. She had told Jennifer to go home, and ended up losing about six customers. When employees feel they are not treated fairly they lose respect for management and loose motivation for their work. So an employer should always treat one another with fairness, equality, and respect. It will make legitimate business sense for companies to treat their employees properly at work. Treating customers this way will always be an enormous possibility that they will come back to visit and buy again. A happy workforce is a productive workforce. This will keep employers to be loyal and apply their best efforts to ensure their customers and company.
