Letter Writing
Please help me correcting my covering letter
Hi,
I’m going to apply for a placement position and it would be very nice if somebody could take a quick look over my covering letter. Especially grammar is the point I’m worried about (but of course I appreciate every suggestion). Thank you very much in advance…

As I will be graduating in October from the University of Applied Sciences – XXXX, Germany with a degree in Industrial Engineering (Diplom Wirtschaftsingenieur FH), I am writing to inquire for a work placement position in the area of Logistic or Project Management for six to twelve months starting in November.
Besides of having four years of university training, I have gained experience at Bayer Schering Pharma AG in the Production Logistic and Project Management department. Working there made it necessary to become acquainted with a new branch of industry, but I learned very fast and got familiar with the production process so that I was soon a full integrated member.
I would describe myself as a logical and analytical thinking person who enjoys taking on challenges and solving difficult situations. I am very confident working with computers (I had my first one when I was six years old) and good at learning to work with new programs – two years ago I have taught myself Linux.
Studying and living for one and a half month in Scotland (EU Summer School at the University of Paisley) has stirred my passion for the UK and proved myself that I am flexible and able to communicate in an English speaking environment.

Whl626As I will be graduating from the University of Applied Sciences in October – XXXX,I must confess that the Xs are a little bit confusing. The word after the hyphen is the city where my university is located in – so it's a part of the name. I think it's not a good idea to separate

Yeah, no need to put an hypen then the name of your city. Just put " in ( your city ) " will be fine.
in or at are acceptable, it is just that ' at ' refers to the position of something. If you are no longer working there. Using ' at ' is more appropriate. " With " is another option because you gained the experience working with them.
