Please help me correct this short letter to a Prof.

it is me again Emotion: smile dudes. here is the letter:

Professor BIGPROF1,
I am a prospective student, I have applied to the Ph.D. graduate research program in mathematics.
You may be interested by my application package. I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to let you know in advance, so that you can preview my application. If you have some comments or some additional questions, please let me know. I will be pleased to give answers either by e-mail or by direct interview.

Besides, there's absolutely nothing wrong with "welcomed". The "is" is the problem.
"Any comments are welcome" or "Any comments will be welcomed" are both just fine.
