The chart provided reveals figures about car ownership in the Britain during the period from 1971 to 2007.

Overall, car ownership in Britain increased from 1971 to 2007. In particular, the number of people with two cars rose, while the number of people without a car fell.

In 1971, almost half people in Britain had no car. About 44% of people have one car, meanwhile only about 7% and 1% of people who owned two cars and more than two cars respectively. Afterwards, in 1980s, the one-car households was the most common type; and the number of people had no car reduced sharply to between 30% and 40%.

During this period, the numbers of people with one car and more than two cars didn't change so much. Meanwhile, the no-car households declined dramatically to around 24% in 2007. And there was a rapid growth in the number of people with two cars in this period, it reached to approximately 25% in 2007.
