Essay & Composition Writing

Please help me correct this essay and give comments. Thank you in advance.

Hello. Today I'm practicing writing an academic process essay (C1 level). I hope you'll take a look and give comments. Thank you so much.

Topic: How to self-study effectively after school or university?

It is an assured fact that learning solely in classes at school or college will not be enough for one student to have a passable academic performance. Students need to self-study before and after their lectures to absorb all the assigned knowledge. However, self-studying is a rough process. If not effective, all hard work and precious time would be wasted. To self-study effectively, one needs to plan their schedule in advance, avoid distractions, and take appropriate breaks.
The first step, and unarguably the most important, is planning things in advance. To make a timetable, one needs to know the dates of forthcoming assignments and exams, which should not be a problem because teachers always inform vital dates. Next, one should decide when to revise all subjects based on the number of exams/assignments and the difficulty of each. In addition, students should also make a list of what to do in each subject to avoid being rambling. For instance, when planning to practice using English grammar, one can revise only modals on Monday and only noun phrases the next day. Planning what to do every day, every week, every month will help the self-learning process go much smoother.
The next step to self-study effectively is to avoid distractions. Distractions can occur anytime and anywhere, inhibiting the learning process and leading to unwanted delays. Avoiding them requires determination and a couple of actions. Learners should stay away from all social media sites, emails, and phones unless required to do so. (For instance: Group meetings for presentations). If a person has a question or concern that can be solved later, they can write it down in a notebook and wait until the session end to tackle it. Avoiding evitable distractions is crucial to maintain productivity when studying.
Taking appropriate breaks is the last part. Small breaks may slow down the learning process for a bit but help a student regain energy and ability to concentrate, which helps the brain amazingly and benefits learners. Deciding when to take a break depends on each student. Students ought not to take a break anytime they want because it damages the learning spirit, but they can choose to take a 5-minute break after each 25-minute learning session or a 15-minute break after every 90 minutes. When taking a break, one can listen to music or feed the cats. Brain scientists have recommended that students stay away from mobile devices when taking breaks, however. These devices can tire the human’s brain more, which decreases the ability to learn.
To self-study effectively, it is advised to plan a learning schedule, avoid distractions and take appropriate breaks. Self-learning may not be easy, but with the steps recommended, it can be beneficial. Not only can a student learn faster, but they can also have a better impression of learning.
