I experienced the first internship in my life recently, which makes me think more about my future. The workshops and the field trips during the internship strengthened my dream – to become an interpreter, and brought me knowledge about English-related occupations. After the internship, I have been full of determination to prepare myself for my future job. The recent internship is informative in that it offers me knowledge of professions relating to English and it makes me seriously think about my future career.

The workshops and the field trips provide me with information about English-related jobs, especially my dream of being an interpreter. First of all, I experienced a virtual tour of the Ajinomoto factory, which let me know how a factory is operated and how people work in it. It is the background step to go to the other in-depth topics. After the virtual tour, I attended a workshop on the requirements and skills to work in the service, business, and cultural-society sectors where English is used. The workshop was presented by Nguyen Thien Phuong Quang, the director of cross-border e-commerce named Fado.vn, who has more than ten years of experience in diverse fields such as tourism, e-commerce, and the digital economy. He is a multi-talented person who inspires me to be a successful individual. The next workshop is about the requirements and skills to work in the field of English Translation and Interpreting – the field I am pursuing. The workshop helps me to confirm that Translation and Interpreting is a challenging but interesting major, which makes me yearn to pursue this major more. Finally, I have a field trip to Nam Sao Language School to learn about the requirements and skills needed to work in the field of English teaching. The field trip gives me the real-life experience of an English center, namely knowing what departments and positions it has, what a day at that center is like, and so on.

I’m on my way to prepare for my future career. I made a plan in my first year at university in which I dreamt of taking the IELTS certificate in the short term and becoming an interpreter in the long term. For the short-term goal, I haven’t got the certificate yet, which I’m disappointed about. However, I’m trying to practice and planning to get it in a few months. For my long-term goal, I’ve been studying with the aim of becoming an interpreter, but the process is somewhat slow. Therefore, I am determined to accelerate my learning process for this major. In this learning process, I find out my advantages and disadvantages. I’m intelligent to some extent, in my perspective; however, I’m slow in dealing with things and often misunderstand them. By extension, I have problems with managing time, which makes me sometimes unable to finish all my work. Hence, I need to practice to improve my weaknesses and become a better version of myself.

In brief, I have learned a considerable amount of knowledge from my past internship, which is one of the initial steps for me to prepare for my future career. Through the workshops and field trips, I learn more about the jobs relating to the major I’m following and think about my future more seriously.
