Some people believe that the authorities should prioritize the expenditure on railways rather than roads. To my way of thinking, it is better to invest more in the railway system

First of all, improving railways system would speed up journey time and offer safe commuting for citizens. Subway trains are quicker than nearly all types of private car and safer too. As a result, people will spend less time commuting and more time doing something more productive and this will benefit the entire society Moreover, more railways and trains may encourage public to use frequently, resulting in less traffic congestion. To illustrate, citizens who live far from the city center in big cities such as New York prefer to use underground trains because it is less time-consuming and convenient.

Secondly, rails can carry hundreds of people and hundred tons of goods, which I think that is more beneficial than transportation by roads. Additionally, using rails as the main vehicle would reduce air pollution. For instance, an average train can carry hundreds of passengers and this prevents the use of hundreds of internal combustion engines, thus reducing the amount of carbon emission.

Finally, train passes are inexpensive compared to using a private car. In many developed countries, the governments subsidize the cost of fares for children, students, and elderlies. Even in Singapore, the citizens can buy free passes.

In conclusion, it is significant for the government to put more resources in developing railways system due to several undeniable its advantages.
