Please help me correct this essay

As well as making money, businesses also have social responsibilities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In this day and age, more and more contemporary attention placed on whether or not should companies have social responsibilities. While generating profits is the top priority of businesses, I would argue that they should conduct their business in a socially responsible manner.

On the one hand, making profits is beneficial to society in many ways. Firstly, they can broaden their business opportunities. For example, if companies earned a great amount of profits, they would distribute their products to overseas, increasing their chances of success. As a result, they can create more job vacancies within the community. Secondly, the higher the profits earned by enterprises, the more taxes they pay to the government. Consequently, authorities may have more revenue to spend in key fields such as education or health care, leading an improvement in the whole community.

On the other hand, there are a wide variety of reasons why businesses should accept that they have social responsibilities. The first reason is that humanitarian action is an effective way to boost their public image. For example, big corporations such as Unilever or Vinamilk have enhanced their reputation through philanthropic actions such as giving either charitable donations or academic scholarships. As a result, they may transform the positive image to their customers. Additionally, their activities can produce harmful effects on the environment. For example, without control, production processes may discharge a huge amount of waste into rivers, leading seriously environmental degradation, such as global warming stemming from factory emissions.

In conclusion, although maximizing profits is the fundamental principle of businesses, I believe that they should seriously think about their social responsibilities.
