The bar chart illustrates the number of mobile phones sold by five leading brands in 2009, 2011 and 2013.

It is clear that Samsung and Nokia were by far the most popular in five brands. However, while the number of phones sold by Samsung saw the fastest increase, Nokia's sales decreased at the fastest pace over the period shown.

There were significantly different patterns in the sales of Samsung and Nokia. In 2009 and 2011, Nokia sold the most mobile phones, at over 400 million units, nearly doubled those Samsung sold. However, the year 2013 marks the point at which Samsung' sales overtook that of Nokia, with over 400 million units and around 200 million units respectively.

Over three other brands, while the sale of Apple saw a big jump from nearly 20 million units sold in 2009 to approximately 150 million units sold in 2013, LG witnessed a reduction in the sale from just over 100 million units to nearly 70 million units. Increasing at a slower pace, the products' provision for consumers of ZTE remained at lower than 100 million units over the four - year period.
