Please help me correct my ielts writing part 2

Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in the present.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

*Answer:

There is a great many ways to acquire knowledge, one of which is to take a closer look into the past. Some people argued that this way is of no value. However, in my opinion, I strongly disagree with this statement and think that we have a lot to learn from past.

It is not for nothing that it is suggested that we should go to knowledge from the past. First of all, in terms of individuality, failure teaches success. One might fail one or multiple times in the past. However, these failures should not be made something that let you down but rather your precious experience. If one can draw lessons from the failure, they will be likely to succeed in the present or future. Secondly, knowing more about the past gives us more motivation. Lots of people in the past, not mentioning prominent figures, dedicated their brainpower, time, youth, fortune and even life for a greater good. For example, many soldiers fought and died to bring peace on their Motherland so that the next generations can live a happy life. Another example is the scientists who sacrificed a lot to invent things that make our life much easier. Having an insight into what happened in previous time will boost the spirit of the people to strive for the prosperity of their homeland in particular and the world in general. Last but not least, folk experience is definitely something that is worth learning. Unlike todays, there is no advanced technology in the past, so people at that time relied mainly on experience. Some of the experience is still valuable to us nowadays. For instance, we can tell whether it is going to rain by looking at the color of the sky. If it is red, it will possibly rain. Knowledge like this is of very good use in case there is no modern gadgets.

Nevertheless, everything we learned about the past is 100% correct and appropriate with the criteria of the modern world. For this reason, we should be selective.

All in all, learning about a past is not the only learning method but it is certainly one of the best. Nonetheless, we should take into account every single piece of knowledge before we decide to absorb it.
