Topic: When choosing a job, the salary is the most important consideration. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Many people are likely to choose a job based on the size of salary offered. In my opinion, while I agree that salary should be an important factor people should be concerned about before applying for a job, others factors also contribute equally to this decision.
On the one hand, the salary has to be discussed carefully before we make a labor contract because of its role in meeting our basic needs. By the Maslow's pyramid theory, the lowest storey has to be fulfilled before adapting to higher storeys so we have to have a adequate money for these needs. This psychologically affects on the employees to pay more attention to the salary offered. For example, artists and musicians who usually are considered that they have a career being far away from earning money but they also need enough money to live comfortable and raise their family.
On the other hand, non-financial factors also play an important role on choosing a job of applicants. Firstly, to someone, the work environment is likely to be more important than money due to they need a priority of having a good manager, friendly colleagues and energetic atmosphere in their company. To these people, a good work environment and the opportunity of making progress could outweigh the salary they could receive. Secondly, many people have their motto that is " live to work" so working is just the way they enjoy life. Those people tend to choose difficult jobs as a way they challenge themselves and reach their own potential. To those ones, the salary has no affect on their sense of satisfaction and achievement.
In conclusion, it is clear that the salary should be an important factor we should consider but we could not underrate other elements which are not related to money.
