It is argue that newcomers should adapt the local norms when they settle in a new country. I completely agree with this idea.

There are several difficulties that people have to face if they do not conform the norms of social behavior. Firstly, it is impossiple for newcomers to blend into their new environment, which may hinder their job performance, communication and friendship. They will have no support of people arround. Secondly, recent immigrants might fall foul the law of the host country if they do not follow customs and embrace traditions. In Singapore, for example, residents will consider newcomers dirty and ill- mannered or they even get a fine if they litter the street or spit gum in public places.

New residents will enjoy a lot of benifits if they respect social norms when they reside in a new country. The locals seem to be more wellcoming . This establishment of closer link with host community might lead to intergration and mutual understanding. Another benifit is that following the customs and traditions of a new country of residence enable them to participate in community and avoid social isolation. During festivals and national holidays , it is likely that they feel belong in their new countries.

In conclusion, because of the reasons above , it is necessary for new residents to follow traditions and habit of local ones in order to intergrate fully into new society
