Please help me correct it. Thanks so much

Topic: The car is possibly the most convenient and popular way of getting from A
to B. However, due to its impact on the environment and the risk it poses to
pedestrians and motorists, governments should take urgent steps to reduce
our dependency on this mode of transport.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Explantion:

The past 50 years have seen a dramatic increase in use of cars. Some laud its convenience that makes cars popular; however, I argue that it is detrimental both to environment and individual who is walker and driver.

First of all, it is an indisputable fact that using cars to excess results in negative effects on environment. The atmosphere is contaminated by million ton of exausted fume and cacbon dioxide that release from cars everyday. Moreover, to facilitate to car drivers, tree forests must be cut and replaced by parking lot and road systems. These, therefore, lead to air pollution and exacerbate our life. For instance, many Chinese people own a popular mode of transportation – car which is one of reasons that make the atmosphere in China extremely polluted.

Further and even more importantly, though, cars are responsible for many problems to pedestrians and motorists. The primary cause is, due to some mechanic errors or carelessness during driving, car drivers can cost passers-by lives and even theirs. In Vietnam, for example, the number of people that died in car accidents are more than those who died in wars. From this example, I believe that people must use public transport rather than cars because of their high risks. Besides, having breathed in polluted air, people can have respiratory ailments as lung or nose cancer. Although it is convenient and help people travel easily, they are a real problem.

By the way of conclusion, while I recognise car's benefits, its drawbacks is more significant and I think government must take drastic ation to combat it.
