The pie charts compare the proportion of the daily routine of employed adults in one nation in two different years over a 50-year period.It is clear that time spent working has surpassed that of other activities. Additionally, while time devoted to relaxing has increased, that on going out record a downward trend.In 1958, nearly one third of the day was distributed to work (33%) and time spent on sleeping is slightly lower, at 32%. Next, social activities including going out with friends and family were then also a major activity, with 19% of the day. The three remaining activities comprise travel to work, other hobbies and sports, leisure activities at home only take up very little in a day, at 16% of the total.In 2008, working time increased by 9% while a 7% decline in sleeping hours. Besides, travelling to work increased fourfold since 1958, from 2% to 8% and there was a significant fall in the amount of time devoted to going out with friends and family, from 19% to 6%. In comparison, the portion of leisure time spent at home climbed sharply and came in the third place, at 13%.
