In many countries, very few young people read newspapers or follow the news on TV. What do you think are the causes of this?

What solutions can you suggest?

In the information age, teenagers always concentrate social networks such as Facebook instead of reading the news on websites, magazine or TV. As a result, young people in these countries are not up-to-date with or even concern about local, international and national events.
First and foremost, newspapers or news programmes are designed for adult audiences and are not presented in a format that teenagers find attractive. Few people interested in the news since the language is too difficult to understand and the style and content are usually quite serious. Besides, young people have more tendency watching TV for entertainment and expanding their relationship through the internet. They always spend to much time on Facebook to update their images and talk to friends than read some newspapers. In the other hand, an online game is the most popular channel so that teenagers could present themselves in a virtual world. Game companies often organize lots of events with big awards so young people were attracted to that competition than news on TV.
There are some strategies that can be used to encourage teenagers to keep abreast of the news. The first is to have news agencies present the news in forms that are appealing for young people. The easiest way to do this would be to present the news on internet sites that are designed for the younger audience. Another way to confront the problem is to have school involved in the publication of regular school newspaper. Recent local, national and international news events could be included, although schools should also encourage pupils to be involved in the writing of articles and submissions. This newspaper could be distributed to all pupils, which means a great number of students would regularly read news stories.
The low number of young people reading the newspaper or following news on television can be increased by presenting the news in formats that are appealing to them. The key is to utilize websites and also have schools publish their own newspaper, which students are involved.
