Topic: While some people think that government funding should not be used for supporting art and culture, others think supporting cultural activities may be beneficial for the population and the culture. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

These days, it has been disputed that allocating government funding for cultural activities brings a handful of benefits for the community and culture. However, the others imply that this investment should not be allocated for supporting aesthetic and cultural aspects. From my vantage point, I utterly appreciate the former outlook.

To begin with, art and culture is an element symbolizing the uniqueness of a country and playing a pivotal role in human beings. Incurred expenditure in traditional activities will promote the local renown and attract a vast quantity of tourists. With the massive arrival of tourists, the local people will get more stipends and occupation opportunities to develop the domestic economy. Moreover, artistic and cultural activities reflect the precedent civilization which poses a positive influence on the descendants. Once cultural values are maintained, they will gain a profound proficiency in their home country’s traditional beauty, and this boosts their patriotism, withal.

Conversely, there is a controversy around this standpoint that a number of people discourage the expenditure on traditional activities as they decry the significance of art and culture. They contend that this expense neither directly facilitates the nation’s economic flourish nor advances living standards. Cultural activities chiefly contain spiritual value and make just an insignificant contribution to the country’s wealth. Consequently, this fund is expected to divert to sponsor more lucrative aspects to boost the nation’s net revenue. Given that cultural activities are almost unprofitable, budgetary distribution to domestic enterprises will generate a colossal turnover, and this, somewhat, improves people’s quality of life.

In brief, although the expense in cultural maintenance may exert some shortcomings, it still brings about a plethora of overwhelming advantages. I stand on my ground that funding perpetuating traditional activities is the more superior section which betters the community sustainably.
