Essay:

Some people believe that reading books is not only a popular hobby but also a method to help individuals develop their imagination ability and language skills. I, as a fan of many kinds of books, definitely support this idea.

It is evident that a book depending on certain purposes contains an amount of knowledge, ideas or social understandings. A textbook comprises fundamental knowledge and cultural issues to which each student must acquire. A scientific journal publishes cutting-edged laboratory works and brings the advancement to research communities. Even a novel also conveys a story consisting of somewhat of personal consideration through the lense of a writer. Therefore, a person who loves books could receive many interests from their reading habit regardless of what kinds of books they read. Scientific books help readers accumulate understandings, literature enriches their lexical resources and widens the doorway to the imagination world while educational issues will nourish the reader’s soul as a very famous inspiring collection titled “Chicken soup for the soul” did. A language teacher has ever told me that to become an excellent journalist or a best-seller novelist, a writer had to start their career by reading the books compiled by successful authors. They would learn from the predecessors before being able to identify themselves as an independent writer with distinctive characteristics.

On the contrary, TV programs transport directed emissions to spectacles which are well-prepared artworks consisting of implied contents by the producers. As a result, TV shows do not stimulate the sense of imagination, and certainly, the viewers could not actively experience the shows by the way they really expect. That is why even though television is unceasingly developed, the number of readers does not decline. It is not surprising to realize that citizens in Israel, Japan or other western countries where mass media are widespeading daily are among the most reading people on earth.

In conclusion, reading is truly the best way for continuous self-education. Subsequently, everybody should take times for reading rather than spending hours in front of a TV set.
