It is often said that subjects taught in schools are too academic in orientation and that it would be more useful for children to learn about practical matters such as home management, work and interpersonal skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In the contemporary world, it is undoubtedly confirmed that public education is indispensable for every kid from 6 to 18 years old. However, subject contents at school remain a source of controversy. There have been several viewpoints that current subjects in our schools are too academic and some of them are taught meaninglessly . In my opinion, I do not totally agree with these ideas.
In fact, the subjects are core value of an educational system. To become an ideal citizen, a kid need to be educated essential knowledge concerning various fields in his/her life. Certainly, most of such knowledge comes not only from natural sciences like maths, physics, chemistry but also exists in social-related issues like literature and history. A wide range of human-being legacy condensed in academic subjects establishes a crucial background for each person giving them a perfect platform to pursue higher education. Nevetheless, it is undeniable that our schools have been strongly influenced by an old concept of Confucianism which had been deeply embedded in our culture from ancient dynasties.
Outweighing theory and underestimating practical skills are chronic defects in the field of education and professional training. Consequently, it results in thousands of kids being involved in a drastical academic competition whereas music, sports, social relationships are unexpectedly curtailed from their grasp. Further, when entering into colleges, they tend to achieve best score rather than optimizing their skills or following their dreams. Hence, we will not be surprised if there are thousands of unemployed graduated students every year in the society while many companies or institutions could not recruit suitable candidates for their need. In spite of having a high grade earned from the university, it is evident that many students did not possess enough soft skills which met the employer’s demand. Moreover, in the era of 4.0 technological revolution, they are totally lacking of work skills for a job or starting an entrepreneur. They seem to be in a vulnerable position when coping with foreign labours.
Therefore, I believe that a novel system of education in which every subject will be well-designed balancing between theory and practical skills must be created and broadly applied in all grades of national education system.
