Some people say that governments should pay for the public health care and education, while others say that it is not the government’s responsibility. Please discuss both views and give your own opinion.
It is argued that spending on public health care and education should be a part of government’s budget. While some individuals think that it is not the nation’s concern, I would argue that it is much more reasonable if these fields should be paid by the government.
On the one hand, there are the variety of reasons why some people consider spending on public health care and education should be not a part of government’s budget. Firstly, because people have paid numerous types of taxes to the government, these revenues should be beneficial for them through enjoying free services. In the US, for instance, parents have paid nothing for their children's study in general schools. Another example is in Cuba, medical services are free for the whole of the community. Secondly, it is obviously the each individual is responsible for maintaining their own health and education. Some people may think that it is unfair because some people have to work hard to earn a living and paid a large amount of taxes, but others who are indolent or jobless get the same benefits from the government. Instead, they believe that healthcare and education should be standalone institutions which provide different levels of health care and education services depending on the financial capacity of each person.
On the other hand, I strongly believe that government should provide public health care and education without fees. One main reason is that they are key fields of every country to enhance the qualities of human resources. Besides focusing on developing the economy, authorities should put their effort to raise the awareness, knowledge, and health in the whole of their community, which is responsible for shaping the sustainable development of their own countries in future. Another reason is those who live in favorable conditions about health care and education will be fostered a sense of thankful and desire to dedicate the life to that country without considering about migrate to any other nation. Furthermore, such supportive policies can attract lots of skilled men and women to reside and work for the government. For example, the USA is one of the most advanced countries and always gains a competitive edge over other nations in any field. This stems from the fact that the US government makes the most of the excellent human resources made by immigrants.
In conclusion, it seems to me that the advantages of providing free health care services and education are overtaking its disadvantages.
