Despite many advances women have made in education and employment, they continue to be at a disadvantage when it comes to paying and promotion. In your view, what should be done to promote equality of opportunity for men and women in the workplace?

Throughout history, women have prevailed over both hegemonic masculinity and internalized oppression to achieve remarkable progress in education and the labor force. Nevertheless, gender inequality in the workplace remains omnipresent, especially in terms of payment and promotion. In my opinion, there is much that can be done to address the problem constructively.

One possible approach would be for governments to raise awareness on a societal level about the pervasive bias against female leaders. By addressing the inaccurate social stigma that inhibits women’s potentials, it would greatly tackle the problem quickly and accommodate women to reach the top of their fields. However, measures like this would probably be seen as excessive and difficult to enforce. Because this stereotype has died hard in human thoughts for several years.

A more feasible approach to reduce the gender wage disparity is to ensure the opportunities of women and men’s promotion fairly. Women deserve equal pay for equal work. Because performance in the jobs is based on qualifications and set of skills that an employee has but not on genders. This would help to establish gender equality as a norm and set a good example for companies in the private sector.

To further encourage equality, women should be inspired to explore a wider diversity of careers without imposing any predetermined standards. Women used to be thought that they are not as good as men in certain fields such as science, technology, or politics. Allowing women to pursue their interests might diminish the discrimination against them.

In conclusion, indeed, the problem of gender inequality in the workplace will probably not be solved quickly. However, that is not a reason to avoid taking action. Government can encourage change by enforcing a change of mindset and eliminating various obsolete stereotypes.
