Topic 10: In the future, it seems to more difficult to live on Earth. Some people think more money should be spent on researching other planets to live, such as Mars. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

ANSWER:

It is obvious that sustaining human life on Earth in millions of years has become more and more challenging due to many different objective and subjective factors. However, I believe that we should not invest a vast amount of money to look for another life in other planets. Instead of that, what we need to do is to figure out practical solutions to save our lives on our Earth.

There are two reasons why life on Earth tends to be unsustainable. Firstly, if uncontrolled consumption has continued, chances are some kinds of natural resources such as oil, gas, coal will run out soon. As a result, many human activities will be postponed and that affects negatively life of people. For example, without coal or oil, machines in factories do not work, which means that we cannot manufacture products to meet people’s essential needs in their life. Secondly, environment pollution is killing multiple species, including human when tons of industrial rubbishes are discharged into the rivers, a vast amount of emission is released into the air, contaminating the source of water and the atmosphere that are indispensable for life.

On the other hand, I believe that trying to figure out life on another planet is a waste of time and money. The reason is that the government has to spend an amount of money in exploration with no guarantee of success. It is unbelievable that people can migrate to another planet which far millions light-year from the Earth. Instead of that, we should invest financial resources to improve health services, provide better education, or search for renewable energies. For instance, in terms of transport, vehicles can now be converted to run on hydrogen or waste cooking oil.

In conclusion, I think that people should profoundly reflect upon viable solutions to save their life on Earth rather than extraterrestrial life in the future.
