Some people say that the best way to improve public health is by increasing the number of sports facilities. Others, however, say that this would have little effect on public health and that other measures are required.

Discussion both these views and give your own opinion.

It is sometimes suggested that investing in sports facilities can encourage a more active lifestyle. Personally, I think that such an approach would not make much of a difference to the well-being of the general public.

On the one hand, the availability of additional sports centres may give people the motivation to engage in physical activities. In a world full of work-related stress and daily worries, it can be hard for office workers and students to give priority to daily exercise. Some say that the only way to tackle such a sedentary lifestyle is to create easier access to local swimming pools, fitness centres and athletic stadiums. They may also consider these places to be an ideal social hangout for the locals, who want to find like-minded individuals and share sport-related interests. The main aim of this might be to improve the mental wellness of the already stressed workers.

Nevertheless, more effective measures can be taken to promote good health for society. First, it is essential that governments impose heavy taxes on unhealthy food and drinks that contain high fat and sugar. This is due to the fact that excessive consumption of pizzas, burgers and cola can lead to obesity and other digestive problems. Another method is to incentivise people to walk to work or ride to school to stay fit. Finally, sporting gear and machines should be installed right inside public parks where everyone can use them for free instead of paying high fees to enter the gym.

In conclusion, although it may sound reasonable to provide more sports facilities with the aim of increasing health levels for members of society, I doubt that this would give the desired results.
