Essay & Composition Writing

Please help me check my essay below (Writing task 2). Thank you so much!

It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behaviour to children?

The issue of whether adults should punish children to help them distinguish right and wrong when they are young is open to debate. I personally believe that good and proper punishment is meant to help children learn meaningful lessons.

For a variety of reasons, I contend adults should punish children. Firstly, we will easily teach a child because they always listen to their parents and teachers. We should teach our children by positive punishments such as showing them problems that they do wrong, punishing and giving lessons so they can remember their mistake. For instance, if a child is not polite to his grandparents, his parents should explain to them understand, ask them to apologize, then punish by facing the wall for 30 minutes. Secondly, discipline will help children become more aware of their behavior. When children are punished, they know what they did wrong so that they will avoid repeating it in similar cases.

However, we should only use psychological punishments and should not use physical punishment. First, children cannot tolerate physical injury like beatings. Second, this way of education will affect children's behavior and psychology later. Because children will imitate their parents and when growing up they will tend to be violent such as bullying friends, using force to solve problems. Thus, we absolutely should not use negative punishments to educate children.

For the reasons mentioned above, I maintain that punishment is necessary for children education since it teaches children to be responsible and is an effective method.
