Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

These days, more and more education businesses are offering Internet-based education. There are those who say that the substantial advantages of online education vastly outweigh its disadvantages however, others believe otherwise. I do believe that the advantages are more significant than its disadvantages.

In general, there are two clear advantages of Internet-based education to students. Perhaps the most real benefit of it is that students can receive online education anytime and anywhere. Unlike in the past when the course takers had to commute to educational establishment buildings and at certain time of the day, nowadays, students can attend online Harvard or Oxford University courses from home in the small hours. This beneficial to students coming from low income family who have to support themselves financially by working 9-to-5 and therefore can not go to class from 9 to 5. Second, online course is in general much cheaper. For example, Vietnamese student attending online Oxford University do not have to pay visas, flights, and expensive accommodation on Oxford city.

Generally speaking, there are two key advantages of online courses for course providers. Possibly the most significant advantage of this is that lecturers can record lecture once and students can watch online lecture videos probably hundreds times. This is clearly advantageous because lecturers do not have give lectures many times, which clearly saves the energy of lectures. A further point in favour of this is that course providers can save money on room rent. For example, a Vietnamese teachers can deliver online Vietnamese lessons from his tiny bedroom.

In conclusion, online education is definitely beneficial to both students and online education providers, with students and online education providers saving mainly money and time, and energy.
