Organized tours to remote areas and community is increasingly popular. Is it a positive or negative development for the local people and the environment?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Nowadays, the number of holidaymakers to the remote areas is growing dramatically. From my perspective, while this trend has positive effect on the local areas, it has negative ones on the surrounding environment.

In regards of the benefit that these tours bring to these communities is that it may create high opportunities for people who desire seeking for employment. In fact, more people are likely to find jobs in restaurants, resorts and other tourism service providers. Moreover, local residents can sell products such as traditional meals, clothes and souvenirs to earn a living. As a result, it not only boosts the local's economy but also enhances their living standard.

However, those guided tours may have tremendous impact on the surrounding environment as it can be severely contaminated by human activities. We are now aware of the fact that emissions from airplanes and automobiles is one of the main contributors to air pollution. In addition to this, some irresponsible visitors throw trash in the tourist spots, which causes permanent damage for the land and leads to soil erosion. Take Nha Trang as an example, it used to be popular spot in Viet Nam which has many splendid beaches and tourist attractions are now polluted heavily by careless activities from travellers. This, unfortunately, contributes to the

environmental problems as many travel destinations are being spoilt.

In conclusion, although the phenomenon of the huge number of people prefer wandering off the beaten track bring some advantages to the people in these communities as it increases the local's revenue, there are several effects that harm to the environment.
