Do you agree or disagree with the statement that government should invest more money in science education rather than other subjects to develop the country?

It is argued that together with industrialization and globalization process, governments should focus on funding for science subject, which is considered useful for the future development of nations. In spite of that, I strongly believe that every subject has its own value and requires equal investment.

On the one hand, there are various reasons why people think that investing in subjects related to science should be prioritized. One of the main reasons is that science and technology are the major contributors to the thriving of a country. Larger expenditure on scientific subjects is going to boost production, healthcare quality, transportation and all other aspects of life. In addition, the disbursement on science education can create more of highly trained intellectual workforce, which is believed to be the driving force pushing the country forward. For instance, a recent series of researches conducted by NASA scientists have brought more hope to human being, when discovering a new potentially-habitable planet, which possibly becomes our second home after the Earth in the far future.

Nevertheless, other subjects are just fairly important. Excessive focus on education of science can lead to the attitude of disregarding other courses from students, which is the root cause of incomprehensive knowledge situation. As we may know, literature, history, music, or art are indispensable parts in the process to become well-rounded individuals. Furthermore, undue attention paid to teaching science subjects create imbalanced distribution of workforce, resulting in the shortage of labor working in non-scientific fields such as lawyers, journalists, and so on.

In conclusion, although science plays a vital role in the development of a country, alternative subjects should not be underestimated, in favor of a well-rounded education.
