Essay & Composition Writing

Please help me by reviewing my IELTS task 2 essay!!! Thank you!!!

Topic: It has been believed that people who read for pleasure have developed imagination and good language skills than those who prefer to watch TV. Do you agree or disagree?

There is a belief that people who entertain by reading could be more imaginative and practice languages better than those who would rather watch TV. In my opinion, both of these entertainment methods have the equal benefits.

Firstly, some people believe that reading books without illustrations would stimulate their creativity and imagination. This argument could be true in some extents. For example, the scientists discovered that human brain has mechanism to build its own characters and scenes described in words and sentences. However, television programs like a tool which make words come alive by virtual and sound effects. For instance, it is difficult to help children to understand phenomenon caused by natural process around us if we do not use eye-catching illustrations and sounds effect simultaneously which paper documents could not support for readers.

Secondly, it could not deny that if reader collect new words and grammars from books, magazine and newspaper, it is the good way to learn language. However, language skills have many aspects and reading only one part of it. The other important skills are listening and speaking which are only improved by listening audios and see images on TV. A typical example is a new method to learning English which are becoming popular on educational TV shows. This method is close-up of mouth talking then audiences could imitate the shapes of speaker’s lip and tongue to practice their pronunciation.

Taking all of this into account, while reading can help people to improve their imagination and language skills, I believe that TV programs have the same advantages those fields.
