Many people go to university for academic study. More people should be encouraged to do vocational training because there is a lack of qualified workers such as electricians and plumbers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, more and more people tend to choose to study in university after finishing high school, although the need of skilled workers is very high. I completely agree that people should be encouraged to study in vocational schools for post-secondary education.

There are two reasons why studying in university is not only way for everybody after graduating high school. First, in recent years, there are many people who have university degree. Jobs which are suitable for their degree are limited, therefore a part of them will be unemployed. For example, according to the annual report of Ministry of Labor in 2018, there are more than forty percentages of unemployed people have academic certificate and that was a waste of manpower. Moreover, school fee in university is very high since some people are not able to afford. For example, a minority of students who lives in poor areas can go to university, most them will stop studying or look for other schools which have a lower cost such as vocational schools.

There are two reasons why people should spend time in vocational training instead of studying in universities. First, in these days, employers have needed a lot of skilled worker. For instance, in many constructions, there is a lack of electricians and plumbers. Therefore, workers who have a qualified skill in those positions will be received high opportunities. In addition, studying in vocational school take people a short time, so they will have more advantaged than people who spend a long time to study in universities. For example, vocational training often takes students around three years, and students who study in universities spend around five years to complete study’s schedule.

In conclusion, I think that people should consider clearly about their future and make a decision rightly. University is not an only way to success, there are a lot of other ways that people could follow such as vocational training.
