I am writing in response to your advertisement for theXXXXX at the University of XXXX, as advertised on XXX.

My keen interest in biology and chemistry during my schooling made me to choose biochemistry as a prior subject for specialization for my career in life-sciences. During my undergraduate I had attended many seminars, guest lectures on the key areas of biology such as intermediary metabolism,cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology and clinical biochemistry. One of the lecture provided by my university alumina on cancer biology inculcated me to chase after my dreams of becoming a scientist. During my undergraduate I was awarded as the best outgoing student of the year and graduated in the year of 2010. Though I faced so many challenges being a first generation learner in my family I didn’t give up on my ambition. I got selected for my post-graduate degree XXX in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Madras from around 280 candidates. To ful fill my Master’s degree I had submitted a review of literature on the XXXXX and as additional I received an opportunity to be a project trainee as a part time student in the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where I was involved in studying the iXXXXXXXXXXX. Though it is compelety different from what I decided to chase after, but to gain research experience I decided not to deny the oppurtunity which is only for about 6 months. Eventhough I was subsided from my interest for a while I stayed strong to pursue my career on what I am interested. After I got graduated in April 2012 as a Master in Advanced biochemistry, I started my quest to find a laboratory where my research interest leads. In July 2012 I got selected as a juinor research fellow to study the XXXXXXX.

Compared with numerous other applicants, I believe that my unique advantage dwells in the strong motivation in life sciences that I have maintained over the years. But more importantly, it is embodied by the academic success I have achieved in my 3 and 2-year undergraduate and post graduate education in biochemistry and in the development of strong ability to perform independent medical research in my One and half year work experience on XXXXXXX.

To fulfill my aspirations, I deem it necessary to seek a Ph.D. degree from the University of XXXX. The most important factor is that your program offers research fields I am intensely interested in. I believe that your education will broaden my knowledge horizon, expose me to distinguished professors and their original concepts and creative teaching. I will also learn advanced theories of immunology, cellular metabolism and sophisticated experimental skills. Ultimately I hope that I can become part of the process that human beings use advanced research findings to decipher the mysteries of life and the genesis of diseases. The early clinical application of those research findings will undoubtedly make our life better.
