The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.

The bar chart gives information about the amount of time residents in UK spent making phone calls using both fixed line and mobile phones over the period from 1995 to 2002

Overall, there was an increase in the amount of time used for national and international calls made by fixed line and calls made by mobile phones. However, local calls made by fixed line was still the most common ones among the three.

In 1995, 70 billion minutes were spent in local calls, which was twice as much as that of national and international calls with 36 billion minutes and far higher than that of all calls of cell phones with only 3 billion minutes. Four year later, the figure for local calls showed a significant rise to the peak of 90 billion minutes but then rapidly decreased in the remainder of the period to 72 billion minutes.

In contrast, the amount of time UK residents used for national and international calls as well as mobile calls saw a considerable growth, reaching their highest point at 60 billion minutes for the former and 45 billion minutes for the latter. The amount of time for each category kept its position unchanged throughout 7 years despite some variations
