Please help me

When I desribe school is closing right now I used :
School is closed
If I desribe school was closed last year I used :
School was closed

Are both of my examples correct ?

Closed can mean "it was shut down, and won't operate in the future" and it can mean "not open right now."

School is closed for the summer.
School was closed because of the snow storm.
The closed that school because attendance dropped so much. -- This is the first meaning above.
