SUMMARY
A sports journalist is the mediator between world competitors participating worldwide and their avid supporters. Thanks to their report we can feel incredible emotions that are concomitant in sporting competitions. Thus, there is no necessity of being present at the place of the game. Owing to their work and commitment up-to-date information reach us daily from various sport events.
In the Contemporary World it is generally believed that women fail to know anything about sport. Moreover, their presence at the sports desks is a complete misunderstanding. The majority of society believes that men know considerably more about sport and are the best for this profession. Meanwhile, a woman is in a position to be a good sports journalist. The author is to support it by presenting profiles and conducting interviews with sports journalists' from Olsztyn.
The present bachelor's thesis comprises three chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the history of sport and sports journalism in the press, radio, television and the Internet. Moreover, the definition of sports journalism both the characteristic and the kind of sport styles can be found there. The second chapter depicts the manner of transmitting sport information in indigenous press titles, radio broadcasting stations and local television in Olsztyn. The last chapter constitutes a thorough and detailed analysis of information obtained through interviews with female sports journalists, namely Jolanta Wiszniewska, Natalia Tarkowska and Marta Wozniak. The chapter also comprises description of their work in local sports desks and personality traits.
On the basis of the research it is to conclude that no women is working in sports desks in Olsztyn at present. At the level of local media in Olsztyn only men give shape to sports journalism.
