Please help in explaining

CASE: [a vs b] 19XX ( unreported, Federal court of Australia)

What does the "unreported" mean?

If it is unreported, then How can I read the case name in a book and some details of the case ?

Much appreciated for the answer

Cheers

An unreported or unpublished legal case or opinion is one that has not been officially published. (And thus may have no legal standing in deciding other cases).

Firstly thanks D.

I am glad to know there is no standing for the future case who might wish to rely upon this.

But I do not understand you word that there are not officially published?

I read in a book named Torts, and is published by Thomson Reuters

Then whar is mean by unoffically published?

Cheers

As I understand it, "unpublished" or "unreported" decisions (also called "non-precedential" decisions) may be listed or available in a number of sources. However, they are not printed in certain offical journals, such as (I am told) The Federal Reporter. So, you can read about them, but other courts do not cite them in making their decisions.
