I have been out of school for a long time. Can someone, anyone, give me some suggestions? I am trying to obtain a new position as a computer lab teacher in my building!! Here is my rough, rough draft.
Given the current situation in the MAC computer lab, I would like you to consider me as a serious candidate for the open teaching position. During the past two years I have met every challenge with enthusiasm and hard work. This new opportunity would not be different.
I wanted to outline what I see as my vision for what can be done in the future. Basically, I see this as a good opportunity to restore a program that has been all over the place in the past year or more. I would love to overhaul the program, simplifying it at first, and adding the creative, fun activities as we go. This would mean providing our students with the opportunity to learn Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access on an advanced level.
Although, my degrees may not show it, my previous work experience shows that I am proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Access as well as many other programs offered on the computers at this time. Since I started my career at Mayberry, I have been disappointed at the level of technology available to me and my students, and I would love to get back into this area of teaching.
I feel that I am quite competent in taking on this enormous task. Additionally, I also have an extremely positive rapport with both the students and teachers in the building, something that is an integral part of this position. I am extremely flexible, and I have demonstrated that in the past with all my interactions with students and colleagues.
I have no doubt that I would an amazing job, but I am willing to revisit the program in six months and return to the regular classroom if things are not going as you see fit.
Thank you for your consideration.
