Letter Writing
Please help correcting this letter
Dear all
I need your help correcting the following email. I would like to learn about your idea whether this email is fine as it might be harsh to ask for a PhD position in this way.

It was very kind of you writing me and let me have your updated contact addresses. I really miss the time I spent with you and like to see you again and enjoy working with you. I am very glad to hear that (FRIEND'S NAME) returned to (UNIVERSITY NAME) to do research under your supervision. Lucky him!
I am now working in (COMPANY NAME) dealing with problems of more than 20 fields. I was involved in studying two reservoirs of XXX and YYY through which I learned real reservoir characterization. I can now see how the real world differs from the theory. But, I am now overwhelmed with too many questions and I hope I would find an opportunity to do research and try to answer these questions. I should have written to you formally on this request but I would be very pleased if you give me the opportunity to do research under your efficient supervision.
