Please help correct my letter

Dear Fred:

Last week when I was traveling to Santa Fe, a really terrible thing happened. A laptop computer being used by me to enter data about daily temperatures and humidity levels at our proposed distribution center was taken by sneaky thieves from the company van, which I had left parked overnight at the Round Rock Motel, where our group has been staying for the last three days.

The Gateway laptop computer had been assigned to me in El Paso on July 18 to use at the proposed distribution center site. Great care has been taken by me to keep the laptop safe.

I don't know why I decided to leave the laptop in the van overnight. But thieves broke in, stole the laptop, the van's radio, and two cellular telephones. The incident has been reported by me to the local police, and I will file a claim with the insurance company when it opens at 10 a.m. in the morning.

So that I can continue to record the needed measurements, please send me another laptop or authorize me to purchase one at the local Circuit City.

Sincerely,
