Italian culture gives name and family names, the same as all the other European countries. Usually, we give the family name of the father and a baptism official name. Another name is written in the Church's documents, if the parents want it. Spanish culture gives both of the family names of the father and mother. However, also in Italy some families give both of the surnames. On the other hand Italy was also invaded by Spaniards, so their influence affects us still nowadays. Our families' roots remain in our subconscious mind, maybe it's for this reason that we feel related with other cultures. In Italy there are many family names that derive from colours (Rossi, Bianchi, Verdi) or occupations (Fabbro, Pescatori, Vaccari) or locations (Padovano, Milanese, Romano). Other surnames derive by other cultures, like mine, they aren't original Italian surnames. In centuries of achievements, a lot of European families started their roots in Italy, for this reason the italians also have foreign surnames.
