Please help! "BARELY"

Hi everyone,

Please help me understand the sentense below.

A is barely a stone's throw from B.

Does this mean:

1) A is close from B
or
2) A is NOT close from B

Looking forward to your opinions!
Thank!

It means A is close to B. A "stone's throw" is a short distance. "Barely a stone's throw" means "perhaps not even quite so far as a stone's throw, and certainly no further".
