Please help.

My wedding party is tomorrow. I would be grateful if you came.

vs.

My wedding party is tomorrow. I would be grateful if you would come.

I have been always confused about whether to use ‘if+subject+would...’ or ‘if+ subject +past tense’ in second conditional. Can they always be replaceable to each other or when can I use both and when can I use just ‘if+subject+past’ and when can I just use just ‘if + subject+ would’. Some body please help me. I would be grateful.

We do not normally use 'will' or 'would' in an if -clause, but your example expresses a sort of exchange of favors, so it's OK. Thus, both sets of sentences below are acceptable. anonymous My wedding party is tomorrow.
