Please help.

He is serving two concurrent ten-year sentences.

Does the sentence mean he is serving two sentences? For example one sentence is 6 years and the other 4 years so together is 10 years. And it’s continuous and there is no break between the sentences. Like you sever the 4 years and take a 6 months break and serve the other 4 years. Is it what “concurrent” means? Please help.
