Please help.

I would just be most grateful if you would be more constructive in your comments.

vs.

I would just be most grateful if you were more constructive in your comments.


To me, the second sentence says that you are not more constructive in your comments, and the first one doesn't say that. Are both sentences correct and do they mean exactly the same or there is a little difference in meaning just like I mentioned? Please help.
