Please help.

Carter: When I saw that identity card, there was a star on it. I didn’t know what it meant.

Ross: That would’ve meant the identity card was printed again.

Carter: I see.

If would’ve meant is incorrect, please give me an example where it can be used with similar context? Thanks

It's not incorrect. It is a contraction of "would have."
